I completed my Bachelor degree in Visual Communication in 2010 and my Masters degree in Design at the Iceland Academy of the Arts this spring. I worked for five years as a full-time graphic designer at an interactive design firm called Gagarin, where I worked in interface design, photo editing, illustration and typography.

In my studies I focused on the conditions of photography in the ever-changing social and technological environment of today. The ubiquity of cameras and the immediacy of access to the documented moment have completely changed, both in the aesthetics and in the capabilities of photographic media. Social media is affecting our perception of journalism and the sharing of photographs by non-professionals is having real consequences, often now replacing the ‘heroic’ war photographer of the past.
